Imphal is situated more or less in the centre of the Central Valley and consists of two parts, Imphal East and West, and occupies an area of about 908 sq.kms at an average altitude of 790 meters above the sea level. The climate is sub-tropical with an average annual rainfall of H 89.5 mm , moderate temperature with a range of 0°C to 35.6°C and a range of relative humidity from 35 to 100 . The soil is fertile with alluvial filling by the rivers like Imphal, Nambul, Kbngba, Iril and Thoubal flowing through it.
